Our wonderful all female guardiennage team have been super busy over the last few weeks prepping all the yachts under our care for their owners’ arrival. Not only are the Berthon girls meticulous wizards at cleaning, they are also incredibly skilled at yacht polishing. We use a 3-stage method for polishing a yacht so that the paint or gel coat is restored to as new condition and is well protected from any UV with the final coat. The results are always astonishing with hulls returned to a mirror finish. This of course also means that the yacht’s hull is easier to maintain throughout the season.
On top of polishing, the girls have also been valeting all the yachts under Berthon Spain’s guardiennage care. When we clean a yacht, it is done to the highest standard; every locker is cleaned, sole boards are lifted, bilges are meticulously scrubbed, engine spaces are not ignored, stainless steel is detailed with polish and teak decks are given lots of TLC. For sailing yachts, we will also clean the mast to get rid of any red rain dust and ensure the stainless steel is sparkling from top to bottom.
Once the yacht is in sparkling condition, it’s time to bend the sails back on and to refit the covers. The tenders are then valeted at our Big Blue Shed before being put back aboard. The systems are of course all being regularly checked by Guardiennage Manager Addy Daly, who is training her team to check yachts in the Berthon way.
Berthon’s guardiennage check sheets are incredibly detailed and everything is operated and inspected to ensure we find any problems before our owners. We find that regularly running all of your yacht’s systems ensures their reliability.
During this time our yacht team is also flat-out with the antifouling jobs, applying propspeed and servicing the underwater parts; bow and stern thrusters, sea cocks, cutlass bearing replacements and shaft seal replacements.
We have just had one of our regular owners with a CNB 76 come in with a bow thruster fault and we were delighted that we managed to find them a slot in STP Shipyard. She was hauled out, bow thruster repaired and launched again on the same day for a very relieved and grateful captain.
Whatever your yachting needs, Berthon Spain are sure to be able to help, so please get in touch with us today.
