Tim’s love of yachts and sailing began at the remarkably young age of four. Growing up on the UK’s South Coast, he was immersed in life on the water from the outset, spending countless hours sailing and absorbing the rhythms of the sea. Those formative years shaped not only his passion for yachting but also the direction of his future career, laying the foundations for a life dedicated to the marine world.
He writes: “Yachting has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and it is very much part of who I am. That lifelong connection quickly developed into competitive sailing, and over the years I have competed in the Fastnet Race on numerous occasions. My first Fastnet was when I was just 15 years old – an experience that not only challenged me but also confirmed that life on the water was where I belonged.
By the age of 18, I had begun a professional career in yachting that has been both varied and comprehensive. I have gained hands-on experience across multiple disciplines, working as a marine engineer and later as a yacht captain on both sailing and motor yachts. This practical background has given me a deep understanding of yacht systems, performance, and onboard operations, knowledge that continues to underpin my approach today. I also spent time working in yacht management on the Isle of Man, which broadened my understanding of the commercial, operational, and regulatory aspects of the industry.
Around a decade ago, I made the move into yacht brokerage, relocating to Mallorca – a natural hub for international yachting. This transition proved to be a strong fit, allowing me to combine my practical experience at sea with client-facing roles and commercial strategy. Since then, I have worked with respected brokerage houses including Fraser Yachts and Moravia Yachting, representing both buyers and sellers across the motor and sailing yacht segments and handling a number of notable listings.
I am now excited to begin the next chapter of my career as Head of Sales for Berthon International in Spain, based in the Palma office. Bringing with me decades of on-the-water experience and a well-rounded brokerage background, I am ideally placed to support clients with informed, practical advice and a genuinely personal approach. For me, yachting is not simply a profession – it is a lifelong vocation, shaped by experience, driven by passion, and defined by trust.”
