Addy Timmins first arrived in Mallorca 15 years ago on the 29m classic Fife the Lady Anne. She was working as a deck/chef on board, after joining the yacht in Falmouth and cruising from the south coast of England, through the Mediterranean to Spain.
Life afloat wasn’t new to Addy. She inherited her father’s passion for sailing with Mirror dinghies and family holiday bare boat charters in the Ionian. Her parents left England when Addy was a child and moved to Corfu, Greece, where they worked for a flotilla company – Odysseus Yachting. Growing up living aboard her parents’ Westerly Discus, she really has been around boats her whole life. At age 20 she bought her own yacht, a 31 footer named La Seule and her early working life was with flotilla companies in both Greece and Turkey. The maintenance skills and knowledge gained here, of all types of yacht from the inside out, has been invaluable in her later life.
A move back to England in her late 20s took her to Staffordshire, where true to form, she lived on her own narrowboat on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canals. During these years in England, Addy completed her training as a chef at Walsall College, and took over the tenancy of a traditional pub, where she established a successful restaurant.
Unable to escape her yearning for the Mediterranean and love of yachting, she made a bold decision to sell her pub and move to Falmouth. After a winter day working out of Pendennis Shipyard she took a job on board the Lady Anne. This boat brought her to Mallorca, which she has since made her home for the past 15 years. The first port of call being Marina Port de Mallorca. Later she joined the San Lorenzo Lady Jane, based in Marina Portals, on which she further explored the Mediterranean as chef for the owners. Her first shore based job here was for a company producing covers for yachts, followed by 3 years working for Palmawatch – a well established yacht maintenance company with their offices in STP.
In early 2018 Addy joined Andrew Fairbass in what was then Sentinel Yachting, as Guardiennage Captain. Her clear love for yachts and vast knowledge base, matched with her attention to detail and friendly demeanor, make her an instant hit with the clients. She enjoys all aspects of working on yachts, especially presenting owners with their yachts in peak condition, ready for their next adventure!
